First off, I'd like to say thank you so much for the birthday gifts! :) I really enjoyed spending the day with the kids, they are very sweet-especially when they know it's a special day!
We have had lots of new things happening in our classroom. We started new units in both math and science last week. In math, we have been talking about fractions and using the vocabulary 'numerator' and 'denominator' to explain what each number in a fraction means. The numerator is the top number and it tell us how many parts of the whole we have, and the denominator (the bottom number) tells us the number of pieces the whole is divided into.
In science, we started our plant unit and have been learning the six parts of a plant and what helps plants survive. We are also diving deep into what each part of the plants do. Right now we are focusing on fruits. I did a few write-ups on the visible thinking blog the teachers at our school use, check them out along with other fantastic Bill Roberts teacher work here:

It's great to have such a wonderful staff at our school. This is just one of the many ways we collaborate.
I truly enjoy spending each day with your children and look forward to what other great questions they have in store for me! :) Also, we welcomed Amanda Evans to our team this week as Jaime prepares to have her bundle of joy! I'm sure we'll keep you updated as soon as we hear anything!!
Don't forget that next week is Spring Break. I hope you get to enjoy a nice relaxing break!
